Prashant is an Associate Partner for South Asia and has extensive experience in all aspects of investment management. He has managed 19 portfolio companies from three growth funds (vintage since 2006) across various sectors, with investment sizes ranging from INR 150 million to INR 1.4 billion. He has also handled 15 exits through all available routes from unlisted companies, with exit values ranging from INR 200 million to INR 5 billion.
Throughout this journey, he has adopted a hands-on approach. He has been actively involved in portfolio management, contributing across functions within portfolio companies and in relation to fund management, including fundraising, investor relations, reporting, fund valuation, and auditing. His investment management experience encompasses all stages, from fundraising to deal sourcing, deal evaluation and investing, portfolio management, and exits, as well as internal and external reporting to all stakeholders.
Before joining Circulate Capital, he spent around 18 years in financial services, of which he spent the last 14 years in the private equity sector at JM Financial, a large financial services company, where he held board positions as a nominee of the funds. He began as a Senior Analyst and quickly progressed to Executive Director of Private Equity. He also spearheaded ESG adoption for the private equity platform and oversaw its portfolio companies.
Earlier in his career, he started post-qualification in 2007 at Morgan Stanley in their Mumbai office where he spent close to 4 years. He worked in the Investment Banking division on the Energy & Utilities desk and collaborated with colleagues in Hong Kong, Houston, London, and Sydney.
He has been an Associate Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India since 2006 and a Chartered Financial Analyst from ICFAI University India since 2006. Additionally, he graduated in 2004 with a first-class bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta University), a highly regarded and prestigious institution in India. Prashant speaks English, Hindi, Rajasthani, and Bengali.
