Wolfgang is a Founding Partner of Circulate Capital and Founding Partner of SAGANA. Together with our senior leadership, Wolfgang helps oversee our investment activities and guides and mentors our investment teams on the ground especially in South Asia, Latin America and on the innovation side.
Having executed 100+ deals in the impact investing space over the last 20 years, Wolfgang brings considerable experience to the team and helps ensure high-quality execution and impact. In his role as Founding Partner of SAGANA, Wolfgang provides senior guidance to the investment teams who invest in companies with significant environmental and social impact as well as attractive financial returns.
Wolfgang has advised several companies, funds, families, and foundations on important impact investing topics and has helped them build portfolios of impact investments, executing due diligence and portfolio management. Wolfgang sits on boards of several companies and the Investment Committees of Circulate Capital 1B and Circulate Capital Latam.
From 2007 – 2014, Wolfgang created LGT Venture Philanthropy from the ground up, with the financial support of the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. LGT VP was recognized by the industry as a global leader in impact investing during Wolfgang’s tenure and continued its success story by building one of the globally leading impact investing platforms, Lightrock. At LGT VP, Wolfgang managed a team of 30 investment managers and investment advisors on five continents who invested in strongly growing companies with outstanding social and environmental impact. By the end of 2014, seven million less advantaged people benefitted from the 50 portfolio companies of LGT VP.
Prior to 2007, Wolfgang gained valuable experience in the industry as an investment manager with BonVenture, the first social venture fund in German-speaking Europe, and helped set up Forma Futura, a sustainable asset management company. He was also an Executive Director at Consileon and worked for Bain & Company.
During a trip around the world, Wolfgang interviewed 230 social entrepreneurs, politicians and scientists in 26 countries and recorded his findings in his book “Die Zukunftsmacher / The FutureMaker”.
Wolfgang holds a Master’s degree in economics and business administration from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
